明治三十年（一八九七）から東西新川を往来していた渡し場跡。それまでは、干潮時、飛び石伝いに渡っていた、初めて鉄筋コンクリート造りの新川橋が、架かったのは明治四十一年（一九○八）のことである。（現地の説明板による）
