下関では、林芙美子は明治36年（1903）田中町の五穀神社入口にあったブリキ屋の２階で生まれたと言われています。
このこの五穀神社前に生誕地の石碑が建てれています。
生誕地については異説もあって確定ではないようですが、下関市民は下関が生誕地だと思っています。
